SB 114 proposed by Senator Leland Yee on Jan 21, 2011, requires community colleges to determine "compensation of part-time faculty on comparable salary steps as full-time faculty with similar academic preparation. In addition, it calls for PT faculty salary to be reported to the pension fund organization as standardized FTE terms (instead of the patchwork of hourly rates, and other methods of calculating load and salary) This bill is under consideration in the Educational Committee. I hope that other states can locate congresspersons who might bring similar legislation up. [1]
