Just a quick, very anecdotal, survey: please reply to me at sdonohue@cocc.edu since the CC-Discuss-L is unable to receive replies at this point.

I’ve tried to find data on this topic, but most of what I’ve found so far is pretty vague and based on incomplete responses from community colleges. For example a 2006 study noted that 50% of community colleges have rank, but that survey didn’t include most cc’s in the country.

I know that the data I’ll get from this listserv will also be incomplete, so it’s more out of curiosity:

· Does your community college have rank (Assistant, Associate, Full Professor)?

· If so, is it tied to salary increases/merit pay in some way?

· Are there any debates about rank and/or merit pay (as opposed to COLA—cost of living adjustments) at your institution?
